Diagnosing ADHD

ADHD often begins in childhood, though some people are not diagnosed until adolescence or adulthood. Symptoms may change over time—for example, hyperactivity in children may appear as restlessness in adults.

Our provider completes a thorough evaluation to determine whether ADHD is the cause of symptoms or if another condition may better explain them. Diagnosis follows established medical guidelines (DSM-5) to ensure accuracy and appropriate treatment. Children typically need six or more symptoms, while adolescents and adults need five or more.

At any age, proper diagnosis and treatment can improve focus, daily functioning, and quality of life—especially when supported by family, teachers, and healthcare providers.
